Welcome! We're glad you're here.

Have you ever felt like you completely understand why you feel the way you do, but your body just won't follow suit? You know the logical steps to take, yet you find yourself trapped in the same unhelpful, repetitive loops.

If you are tired of living on the surface of your life, you aren't alone. We meet people every day who are carrying the invisible weight of being:

Stuck & Disconnected: Feeling numb, empty, or apathetic, like you’re just going through the motions.

Constantly On Edge: Living with a quiet buzz of anxiety, tension, or reactivity that compromises your peace and poor sleep.

Overwhelmed in Relationships: Feeling a loss of self or facing persistent friction with the people who matter most.

Physically Burdened: Experiencing somatic pain or a nervous system that simply won't settle down.

Traditional talk therapy is wonderful, but sometimes your mind and your body need a different language to heal.

When Knowing the Solution Isn't Enough to Change It

Discover a Different Path to Deep-Felt Healing

At North Star Counseling & Wellness in Texas, we are not your typical talk therapy practice. We look at the whole system—how your mind, your nervous system, and your relationships intersect. This therapy is for everyone, but those that experience anxiety, shame, healing from trauma, neurdivergence, physical and emotional pain, and relationship strains can specifically benefit.

You are capable of deep, lasting healing

We don’t just want to treat your symptoms and send you on your way. Your brain and body are capable of so much more than just "getting by." We approach therapy with an expansion mindset because we truly believe you have an incredible, untapped capacity to heal, grow, and live a full, vibrant life—even if it feels impossible right now.

Healing happens when we include both mind and body

True relief doesn't come from just talking; it comes from integrating the mind and the body. By taking a somatic (body-based) approach, we help release the emotional and physical blocks trapped in your nervous system. Whether you are looking for deep relief from trauma, trying to build better habits, or striving for high performance, we work to get your whole system unstuck.

You deserve advanced, cutting-edge care

Your healing journey is unique, and you deserve a guide who truly understands the terrain. We prioritize advanced, continuous training for our entire team. When you sit down with a North Star clinician, you are partnering with someone who is actively learning and practicing the most up-to-date, effective therapeutic models available.

Integrative Brain-Body Approaches

Our practice uses effective somatic techniques like Brainspotting and movement to access and release stress and past experiences that are stored and relived creating lasting change beyond traditional talk therapy. These bottom-up modalities help to create new neural networks that tap into your brains capacity to learn new ways of responding.

A Holistic Approach to Trauma As Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, author of The Body Keeps the Score, beautifully teaches, real healing requires a whole-person approach. The most effective therapies go beyond traditional talk therapy to engage your entire system. That’s why we specialize in bottom-up, somatic methods.

All appointments must be cancelled 24hours in advance or you will still be responsible for the appointment fee. Every effort will be made to respect your time to the same degree that has been requested of you.

If you are feeling ill and would like to switch to a telehealth appointment, that option is always available to you. Please text or email your counselor directly to make that switch.

  • What are the limits of confidentiality?

Your confidentiality is always a priority in this process. Your identity, personal information, and the topics you discuss will be protected with the highest standards available. Without your written permission, information about you shall not be shared. Even after written permission is granted, it may be revoked at any time. If there is concern of danger or harm to yourself and/or others, we are legally required to report this information to the authorities to ensure the safety of all. In the case that you are threatening harm to yourself, we may be obliged to contact loved ones to provide protection and/or seek more intensive treatment. We may also be required to take protective actions if it is believed that you are threatening harm to another. These actions may include notifying the potential victim, contacting police, or more intensive treatment. We are obliged by law to report any suspicion or allegation of abuse or neglect of a child, elderly or disabled person.

Email should primarily be used for appointment re-scheduling and is not the media for sensitive, therapeutic material. If you choose to communicate by email at some point in our work together, please be aware that email is not completely confidential. All emails are retained in the logs of the internet service providers from which it is sent and received. While under normal circumstances these logs are not viewed, they are, in theory, available to be read by the system administrator(s) of the internet service provider. If more than ten minutes per week is spent reading and responding to your emails, we reserve the right to bill this time on a prorated basis.

While our counselors do everything in our power to maintain your confidentiality, it is important to recognize that there may be a limit to confidentiality when using telehealth technology, depending on your location and connection. You are responsible for ensuring privacy in your space. We recommend using headphones or earbuds as one privacy protection.
